HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR MICROBLADING SERVICE

• 24 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE.

• 72 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such as ibuprofen, aspirin, niacin or vitamin E unless medically necessary.

• Botox should be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the procedure.

• Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as this can increase your pain sensitivity.

• No waxing, tanning or tinting 3 days before the procedure.

• Please arrive to your appointment with no makeup. The procedure involves a lot of pigment wiping which can ruin your makeup application.

• Be prepared for your brows to look a little red and dark! The pigment will fade in color by up to 40%.

RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS

Safe and proper precautions are taken during each session by using sterilized equipment. When clients follow pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks or complications. While allergic reactions to the pigments are rare, they can occur in certain individuals. A pigment patch test is recommended for individuals with highly sensitive skin or for those with sensitivities to:

Topical makeup products

Gold, silver and nickel

Hair dyes

Patch tests should be performed 5 - 7 days prior to the procedure.

WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE IT?

As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. It is always recommended that clients do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists' work and portfolios when making their decisions. Eyebrows will be shaped and styled to the client's satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but clients must realize that our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. An uneven appearance can be fixed during the touch-up session. Pigment discoloration and color correction can also be fixed during the the touch-up session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch-ups are done.

Skincare after microblading

Taking care of the area of skin where microblading took place is similar to tattoo care, if a bit more intensive. The pigment immediately following the procedure will appear quite dark, and the skin underneath will be red. About two hours after microblading, you should run a wet cotton swab that has been dipped in sterilized water over the area. This will get rid of any excess dye that’s on your brows. It will also keep the area sterile. It will take anywhere from 7-14 days for the skin to begin to appear healed and for the pigment to fade to its regular shade.

Follow these steps to properly take care of your skin after microblading:

  • Avoid getting the area wet for up to 10 days, which includes keeping your face dry during a shower.

  • Don’t wear makeup for at least a week. This is because the pigments are still settling in to the shallow cuts in your skin caused by the blading.

  • Don’t pick at scabs, tug, or itch the eyebrow area.

  • Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed and you have a follow-up appointment.

  • Keep your hair away from your brow line.

  • Apply recommended healing balm provided and use as directed.

Microblading Healing Process

While every person is different and some heal more quickly or slowly than others, here’s generally what to expect following your eyebrow procedure:

Day 1 The eyebrows are approximately 40% darker and 10-15% bolder in width than they will be when healed. Expect light to moderate swelling and redness. The skin’s redness causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to the thickness of the skin in the eyebrow area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which begins in a few days, will cause the excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow to flake away and a more narrow appearance will result. New skin will heal over the pigmented area and result in a softer appearance of your eyebrows. Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size than you desire. This is all part of the process.

Day 2 Conditions remain the same, do not worry! Trust the process.

Day 3 Eyebrows start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Exfoliation begins.

Day 4 The skin begins to flake, peeling from the outside edges first. Please do not pick at the scabs.

Day 5 Color finishes flaking off and appears softer and grayer for a few days until color clarifies.

Day 7 The color has lightened from its initial overly-dark appearance. For the next few days, the color may now be lighter than what the final color will be.

Day 8-10 The final color begins to stabilize and show through.

Day 11-30 pigment can disappear and reappear after two weeks so please be patient with final results after 1 month.

Day 30 please book your follow-up appointment for your Touch-Up Session. After your touch-up session, the healing process is the same. The final results will show after your touch-up

When and Why Do I Need the First Microblading Touch Up?

After the healing period is finished, you will need a touch up. It is usually required 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure. You shouldn’t ask for it before the 4-week-period ends because the pigment color has not been settled yet. Give your brows time to heal properly.

You might notice that your brows have faded, sometimes leaving some gaps. If so, you will need another treatment in order to get the best results. Don’t think of a microblading touch up as something optional. Think of it as a second part of the complete microblading treatment, something obligatory. Without it, the first procedure might be a waste of money.

The first touch up lasts shorter than the initial procedure, because its purpose is to correct irregularities that appeared in the meantime. A touch up is a repetition of the initial procedure but only on the areas that need to be filled in.  It is vital to have the first microblading touch up because only the combination of the procedure itself and the touch up will provide a satisfying outcome.

Does the Success of the Treatment Depend on My Skin Type?

Yes. Unfortunately, not all people are good candidates for microbladingt. First of all, there are those who must not have the treatment under any circumstances. This group includes people with heart conditions, pregnant women, people who are under some medical treatment, people with different allergies etc. Before the treatment, you will be asked various questions and it will be established whether you are a candidate or not.

Once you are allowed to have the treatment done, you need to bear in mind that not all skin types are a good surface for microbladed brows. People with oily skin might notice that their microbladed brows are not dark enough and that the color fades too quickly. That is why they are advised to have microblading touch ups more often in order to prevent fading. On the other hand, people with dry skin should not have difficulties whit the final outcome since the treatment on the dry skin gives the best results.

Besides your skin type, the speed of fading depends on the cosmetic products you use, as well as your lifestyle and habits. For example, if you go swimming a lot or you spend a lot of time in the sun, your brows will normally fade faster.
