Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin a deeply as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade over time. Microblading lasts between 10- 3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry) and age (youthful/mature). The client's skincare routine will also affect the duration of the pigment. Clients who tan or use products with AHA or glycolic acid will notice that their pigment will fade more quickly because their skin will resurface faster. Each client's color retention will vary. To keep brows looking defined and fresh,  touch-ups are recommended

The pain level for the procedure is considered mild, but this will depend on each client's pain tolerance. Prior to the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area and is also reapplied during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anesthetics. During the procedure some clients have likened the feeling to light cat scratches while others felt no pain at all. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients may take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.
